Maybe this needs to be the same guy as the programmer. But I worry that becomes too much of a self insert. I feel like this person needs to be more remote. A roommate the programmer doesn't realize is stealing his shit and having her way with it, offline. Maybe we don't hear anything about her until the websites are revealed. Maybe there is a whole artists movement that happens from this, and that's what the fan culture grips on to - when you start putting the fan stuff in the database it starts making things really messy and esoteric? Then the last thing will be the game asking you to fill a gap, giving you some options. Something that ties you back into the archive like a circle.
