digital garden as devlog as reflective practice

dev log

This site is built to document the development process of my OCADU Digital Futures Master Thesis. Some of this writing my be folded into the research paper, but it is also kept for general interest.

Tech

This website is built in Obsidian using the Digital Garden plug in . Many other options were explored to try to get this hosted directly on blekkenhorst.ca but they were all outside of my skillset. I tried to get the DG plug in working a few years ago but it kept breaking - but the workflow I learned working with webdevelopment for the database software gave me much better footing to set this up seamlessly.

Using Obsidian makes a lot of sense for me. It has it's issues - SO MANY issues - but it's the program I've been using for freewriting the last year and the plug in makes it very seamless to hit "publish" on.

I am using Notion for the more organized aspect of the project - the game design document lives there, as does a database of artifacts and the task Kanban board. The Notion is for building, and for communicating with my advisors. I'm not making it public at this time, but I may at some point.

Reflective Practice

This blog is also doubling as my reflective practice. There is a lot more lurking underground. But having some of it out in the light motivates me.
