Vignette 2

So and so, in a letter to so and so,

My friend,
I am sending you this specimen in the hopes that you and your friends will be able to use it in the great work you hinted at when we last met. You told me once, that if you hold your ear to the ground you can hear the divine if you listen hard enough. Well, I held my ear to the field and heard the wildflowers, and it sounded divine, so I share it with you. I hope you'll receive it in the spirit it was sent.

Dr. Thompson insisted this be stored with the other evidence, so I'll do so. But I believe Linus is simply failing to recognize flirting through the mail. I don't see anything touched about these flowers personally.

Cute.

Evidence: A small red vein has surfaced on one of the branches. I clear if this is what killed the organism.

Linus - enthusiastic but naive faith. Believes the entities could never kill or hurt intentionally. Scientifically minded and curious. Polyglot. He does most of the tinkering.

Rebecca - also great faith, but power hungry. Along with Linus, the loudest voice to push for trying new things to contact the creatures. She comes in a bit after Linus and Patterson.

Violet - archivist, Linus' sister. Sceptical but also fearful. Does not like what the organization gets itself into. Straight-laced Christian, does not like the occult trappings. The first archivist to be taken, finds a personal faith that takes her. This is her story I think.

Paterson - Old man. Somewhat jovial. Loves to argue. Very Christian. He works at the university.
